Anh Binh Minh Khmer Art Association of Tra Vinh province
  Anh Binh Minh Khmer Art Association of Tra Vinh province was founded on 14th April 1963 in Cay Xanh hamlet, Tam Ngai commune, Cau Ke district, Tra Vinh province – the hometown of the Heroine of the People’s Armed Force Nguyen Thi Ut (sister Ut Tich). The force of the then Association had 40 persons with 5 programs of play performance, i.e. Du-ke plays “Nghia tinh trong giong to” (Love in the stormy rain) and “Thach Sanh – Ly Thong” (a story about a poor woodcutter named Thach Sanh who saved the life of a princess but whose friend named Ly Thong appropriated the fruit of his merit and then finally suffered from serious punishment), Sa-Dam Dance, Chhu Chhai Dance, and dances of the ethnic groups in the Central Highlands of Vietnam as well as many political songs in the Vietnamese and Khmer languages.


    Since then, Anh Binh Minh Khmer Art Association has gone through the ups and downs of its history, the changes, the days of victories and challenges. However, under the Party’s and the Government’s guide, and with the love, protection and support of the public people inside and outside the province, the Association has always overcome its difficulties to fulfill the political tasks, serving the cultural and artistic demands of the people,maintaining and upholding the character of the national culture etc…The Association has successfully participated in music festivals and contests organized by the Central or the regional provinces.Besides, the Association regularly performs dances, songs and national traditional music,some extracts of Du-ke plays to serve the domestic and foreign visitors to and partners in Tra Vinh province. Particularly, Anh Binh Minh Khmer Art Association has been a cradle training numerous actors,people inside and outside the province, the Association has always overcome its difficulties to fulfill the olitical tasks, serving the cultural and artistic demands of the people,maintaining and upholding the character of the national culture etc…The Association has successfully participated in music festivals and contests organized by the Central or the regional provinces.Besides, the Association regularly performs dances, songs and national traditional music,some extracts of Du-ke plays to serve the domestic and foreign visitors to and partners in Tra Vinh province.

   Particularly, Anh Binh Minh Khmer Art Association has been a cradle training numerous actors,artists and composers etc…to be inheritors of not only the Association itself but also other Khmer art associations and groups in the home province and other provinces in the Mekong Delta region since the date of its establishment.The most outstanding event is that after Tra Vinh province’s Khmer Public Art Festival I in 2004, the Association chose 22 actors and actresses with good talents and high awards, then opened a training course for them during about 2 years in order to supplement the force of the Association and replace the old actors and artists. Also during its tours, seven officials and actors of the Association died in the resistance wars.

   Up to now, Anh Binh Minh Khmer Art Association has been one of the Khmer art ones whose programs of dance, music and du-ke opera possess both fullypreserved traditional artistic features and wellacquired modern cultural ones. The audiences in Tra Vinh province as well as those in the Mekong Delta provinces have given special favor and great support to them.

   With the achievements mentioned above, Anh Binh Minh Khmer Art Association has been awarded with several merit certificates, degrees, flags and badge (gold and silver ones etc…). Specially, in 1997, the Association was conferred the Third-Rank Labour Medal by the President; and in 2000, the title “Labour Hero in the Renovating Period”.
